I have some catching up to do! It’s been a week around here. I’ve got pests and had to have the service man out to access things one day and then back another day to treat them. If you have a need, I can tell you the folks at ABC Pest and Lawn were great to work with this past week. And, yesterday was Travis’ birthday. If you don’t know, Travis is my younger son. He turned 30 yesterday. I had a little shopping to do and pickup birthday cake and then a party last night. So, my apologies about not getting these posted until now.
Ok – let’s get this party started!
On Tuesday, I made a couple of cards using the Love of Leaves stamps.
The first card I made (before the Facebook live) was on thick whisper white cardstock as a base. I decided on the Facebook live that I would try thick very vanilla instead for the base. I like it better.
The base is 4-1/2 x 11 scored at 5-1/2.
Cinnamon cider layer is 4 x 5-1/4.
Very vanilla layer is 3-3/4 x 5.
On the 3-3/4 x 5 layer, I first stamped the sentiment in the center of the layer in cinnamon cider. This will allow you to fit the other leaves around the edge and not overlap the sentiment. Ask me how I know you should stamp this first? LOL. Then I stamped cinnamon cider, mossy meadow and crushed curry leaves. I stamped them randomly around the edges.
Adhere the stamped layer to the cinnamon cider layer. Wrap linen thread around twice and tie a bow. Then adhere this layer to the base. Quick and easy and so pretty!
On Tuesday’s Facebook live, the other cards were a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants adventure. Not my usual at all. I like to make the sample ahead of time so I can share tips with you, too. But we just learned together with these cards.
This isn’t a new technique but it is fun. Take a baby wipe and use a few drops of reinker to make your own spectrum-type pad. I used early espresso, cajun craze, crushed curry, pumpkin pie and old olive. Lesson learned – see the fold of the baby wipe? Put that down so that the surface you use doesn’t have a seam or fold that will mark your stamped images. Yep – you guessed it. I learned that. Another lesson learned – use only 1 baby wipe. Your ink will stay closer to the top and your image will be more intense. Be sure you put the baby wipe on something that won’t leak through. I used a silicone mat this time. Sometimes I have used a paper plate.
I pumpkin pie for my 4 x 5-1/4 layer on one and mossy meadow for the same layer on the other card. I used my favorite pair of punches on one of the cards – the 2 inch circle and starburst punches. These layer together so nicely. The long rectangular layer is just snipped at the end to make a banner. Both cards have a little linen thread to add that special extra touch. I also stamped a leaf on the inside of each of the cards and then on the back flap of the envelopes. What do you think about the baby wipe technique?
Such fun! If you you like quick and easy cards, then join me Mondays at 10 am. If you don’t have your own Stampin Up demonstrator, I’d love to win your business. Message me and I am glad to help you with all your stamping needs.
Take care. Be safe. Keep stamping.
