I thought I'd share with you the cool technique we are doing at hostess club this Saturday. It's reverse masking. Probably lots of you have masked things before and that is a familiar technique. I love doing that. It's such a cool way to get multiple images and not have them all muddled together.
For reverse masking, I punched an image out of cardstock. For our project on Saturday, I used one of the framelit dies. I made sure there was room around the image on my scrap cardstock so that when I sponged the ink didn't get in places I didn't want. Then I used post-it notes (because I didn't have repositionable tape and I have lots of post-it notes) to hold my frame in place over my cardstock and sponged.
I am thankful for all the other Stampin Up demonstrators who share their work. I cased one of these cards from someone else and then made a couple of variations. Check out this first butterfly – it's got a little tie-dye effect going on. I used the sponge daubers on the stamp and then stamped it on Whisper White cards stock and punched out. You cold get a similar fun effect from the Rock and Roll technique. Let me know what you think.
Paper: Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Whisper White
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Regal Rose, Raspberry Ripple
Stamps: Blooming with Kindness, Papillion Popourri
Embellishments: Daffodil Delight ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds (this card really sparkles in person)
This is the cased card. I used the framelits smaller die for this reverse mask.
Paper: Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Regal Rose, Raspberry Ripple
Stamps: Blooming with Kindness, Papillion Potpourri
Embeliishments: Cherry Cobbler twine (this matches really well), Dazzling Diamonds, Butterfly punch, Pearls
And one more…….
I used Soft Suede and Early Espresso and I used two different masks. The smaller one around the flowers doesn't show up very well, but it's a very soft color that adds a lot to the card. Of course I used Dazzling Diamonds because you can never have enough bling! I like the blue and brown combination of colors.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope something you see here makes you want to stamp!
