Suzanne Taylor, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 2009 and love it more today than I did when I started! I love sharing the fun of paper crafting with others and seeing their joy as they create something beautiful.

Royal Purple Coasters

July 12, 2012 Leave a Comment

First – I have to make a confession………I was really sad to see that Baroque Motiffs was being retired.  It was a "go to" stamp set for me.  That flourish is gorgeous and I was sad.  BUT there is a gorgeous new stamp set with a beautiful flourish that makes me so happy!!  Check out this coaster.  My friend Dana's daughter is getting married this Saturday.  Their last name begins with a "C" so I thought I'd use purple ink and this gorgeous flourish and make some coasters to go with my gift to Amy and Evan.

I bought a packge of 9 of these bathroom coasters at Home Depot for under $5.  I cleaned them and let them dry.  Then I inked up this beautiful flourish with a gorgeous Royal Purple StazOn ink.  (Amy loves purple.)  I stamped the flourish and the initial and set them aside.  I took Minwax Paste Finishing Wax and rubbed it on.  It soaks into the coaster and will protect it.

I asked my oh-so-smart hubby about why I should use a wax instead of spraying this with an acrylic sealer.  He says that because this is so porous, the spray would just be absorbed into it and the end result would not be as sood.  I bought the smalled container I could find – it was 1 pound – and it was more than the coasters…….I think about $10, but there is enough for you and all your family and friends and downline and crossline and and and…..to make all the coasters you need.  So, if you are going to make some coasters and you live close to me, just call me and I'm happy to share some with you.  You only need a little bit and I have enough for a lifetime.  Haha!

I also put those round felt pads on each corner on the back of the coasters so they won't scratch up the new furniture.   Once again, I want to thank another SU demonstrator who shared this idea.  I'm so glad to be part of a group that is glad to share their ideas for everyone else to case and inspire.

I hope Amy and Evan like these.  I can't wait to see Amy in her wedding dress.  She is going to be a very beautiful bride!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope something you see here inspires you to stamp!
