Happy Merry Monday! We made Christmas cards at my house on Saturday. We had a great time. I want to share my favorite card……although it is hard to choose a favorite……from this session.
The picture really does not do this card justice. If you like bling and shimmer — this is for you. First, I want to thank fellow demonstrator Selene who designed this card. I am so grateful for creative friends who share their ideas! Now — back to the card……
The neutral cardstock is Very Vanilla. The darker cardstock is Early Espresso. Then there is the great Champagne Glimmer Paper. The stamp set is Snowflake Soiree.
I used one of our fun embossing folders on a Very Vanilla layer, cut another Very Vanilla layer with one of the Apothecary Accents framelits, and used the Large Scallop Edgelit to cut the edge of the glimmer paper. (Note: I don't think I can make a card without using my Big Shot!) The ribbon on this card covers the scalloped edge of the glimmer paper.
I stamped the words from Snowflake Soiree in Early Espresso, then inked up the solid tree image by using a sponge dauber and the champagne glimmer paint. (Tip #1: Use the shimmer paint sparingly. Too much will distort your image when you stamp it. I have a card made that way to prove it! ) Use another sponge dauber with Early Espresso ink to gently dab on the embossed layer. It gives those raised designs lots of definition. Then, as a fun extra for this card that really steps it up, use your sponge dauber with shimmer paint and dab around the edge of the embossed layer on top of the Early Espresso ink. (Tip #2: I like this with the shimmer paint dabbed on rather than swirled around. If you swirl it on top of the Early Espresso you lose some of the definition of that color and it all blends together. This is a lovely effect, too, so you just need to decide which you like better.)
I stamped the other sentiment inside the card and then stamped the solid tree inked with shimmer paint over it. It's glorious!!
If you want to make cards like this, email me to order supplies or go to my online store and order. In just a few days, you can have a package delivered directly to your door and you will be ready to make your cards.
Keep watching for the next class I'm offering. I plan on having something every weekend for the next 4-6 weeks. I'm doing a calendar class, a tag class and another Christmas card class. I've also got stamp club meeting this Saturday with some fun new things going on.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope something you have seen here inspires you to stamp.
