Suzanne Taylor, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 2009 and love it more today than I did when I started! I love sharing the fun of paper crafting with others and seeing their joy as they create something beautiful.

Butterfly Pansies and Floating Reinker Technique

June 1, 2010 Leave a Comment

butterfly reinker pansy

Have you seen these pansies?  They are everywhere!  We had to make some of these at our May hostess clubs.  I got the idea to combine the elegant bouquet embossing folder and the scallop envelope die from Gretchen Barron and the info about how to make the pansies from Dawn Olchefske.

  • Punch out two butterflies from Shimmery White or Glossy White cardstock.  You'll need two for each flower.
  • Spritz each with water, allowing the water to pool.
  • Put several colors of reinker on a paper plate or something disposable.  I used Lovely Lilac, Pixie Pink and Yo Yo Yellow.
  • Touch the tip of your aqua painter to the darkest color and then touch the tip to the outside edge of the butterfly.  The ink will spread, but you might have to help it along and color a little of the edge.
  • Clean your aqua painter and use the next darkest color for the middle of the "wings."
  • Put the yellow in the center of the pansy.
  • Set aside to dry or use the heat gun to dry.
  • Optional – curl the edges a little.
  • Draw long wavy lines with a marker radiating out from the center, being sure to make the lines on the pansy leaves that will be on the bottom long enough to be visible when you put the pansy together.
  • Layer one butterfly crosswise over the other and use a brad to fasten them together.

Check out how cool these little treats are when you combine the embossing folder with the big shot scallop envelope die!  Cut the scallop envelope first and then emboss.  Think of the possibilities of combining the embossing folder with other dies!!!

You can't see it very well, but there is a peppermint patty inside the scallop envelope.  In my afternoon hostess club, the ladies were kind enough to eat some of the leftover patties to be sure I didn't have to take them home.  I don't like mixing my chocolate with mint!   Thanks so much ladies!

Thanks for stopping by!
