Suzanne Taylor, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 2009 and love it more today than I did when I started! I love sharing the fun of paper crafting with others and seeing their joy as they create something beautiful.

Weekend News

June 28, 2010 1 Comment

Happy Monday!  I wanted to share my personal news in a posting yesterday, but I couldn't get the pictures from my phone to my computer to my blog.  For many reasons, not the least of which is this kind of help, I am grateful for Todd.  He was able to work some kind of magic and make these pictures from my phone accessible for me to post.

If you want to skip through the personal entry and right to the card posting today, just scroll down through this posting and see a really cute and easy card.

On to the personal news………….

I wanted to share about our weekend.  We started off at Todd's birthday party on Friday night.  (This is not Todd in the picture…..this is Carl Taylor, my father-in-law)  Then we went to my inlaws home for the weekend.   They live out in the country outside of Athens.  It's a lovely place, and it's so fun to visit.  They have a huge garden, and we really enjoy all the fresh fruits and vegetables.  My mother-in-law and Kerry picked peas before my father-in-law and I woke up on Saturday morning.  It's not that we really slept in (I don't think 7:30 is sleeping in!), but they were up really early.  After breakfast we sat out under the trees and shelled the peas.   The breeze was blowing, and it was cool – yes, it was cool.  We shelled cream peas, blackeyed peas and purple hull peas.  While purple hull peas are my favorite, I really don't like getting all that purple on my fingers from shelling them.  As I looked at the stains on Saturday, I had to laugh.  It looked like I'd been stamping – so many times, I end up with ink on my fingers!

Here are some of the peas we shelled.  Mom and I blanched the peas and put them in freezer bags for us to bring home.  Well, Mom did most of the work.  I helped get them in the freezer bags and chatted.  🙂

While Mom and I were busy in the kitchen, Kerry put on Dad's work boots and tilled up part of the garden.  This is definitely a fashion statement.  You might not be able to tell from the pictures, but he is a handsome man, and I am a lucky woman to be married to him!!

In the afternoon, we drove to where my father-in-law grew up and saw the home his parents lived in many years ago.  Dad talked about where he was born, where his siblings were born, where the school had been, where the pool was where he learned to swim, and shared memories from his childhood and youth.  It was very special.

My inlaws love to play games, and so do I; Kerry, not so much.  He was gracious to play this weekend, and we played a number of games of Joker (a game of some skill, but mostly luck with marbles and partners) and 42 (more skill, partners and lots of trash talking).  While Mom and I did win the last couple of games, it was pretty evenly split about winning and losing.  It is apparent that there is a great deal of competitiveness in the family.  That's okay because no matter what gets said and how much trash talking there is, it's just a game and we all have fun.

We came back home on Sunday afternoon and had the joy of spending time with our grandchildren while Todd and Kobi went out to celebrate their anniversary.  Dinner was at McDonald's and they especially enjoyed the ice cream.   They have beautiful smiles.

I had to post this second picture of the kids because of Cole's expression.

We finished up the night watching the movie Cars and having a makeover.  I wish I had gotten a picture of Laynie's toes.  Having only boys, I am not very experienced at some of the nuances of little girls, but I am learning.  Plain polish on the toes and fingers I can handle.  Last night Laynie wanted polka dots on top of the polish.  I tried, and it was fun.  Next time I'll use a q-tip and have better round spots – or maybe I'll try a toothpick and make zigzag sort of lines.  So many possibilities!

Thanks for stopping by!
