Stampin Up Easel Card Awash With Flowers

These flowers remind me of spring and summer!  We've been working in our flowerbeds.  Well, actually Kerry and Travis have been working in the flowerbeds.  They've cleaned out and weeded and now the flowerbed in the backyard is ready for flowers again.  It had roses, but the mint and the weeds had just overtaken so that we couldn't save the roses……….but we are going to replace them this weekend with some beautiful ones from the Antique Rose Emporium in Brennam.  If you haven't been there, and you love roses, it's a wonderful, fun place to visit.  AND, the Blue Bell Creamery is there and you can take a tour and sample flavors — at least that's what I hear.  We've not been there (and I'm hoping not to go this time either…………I've got to work on getting into cruise shape – ha!).

Back to this cute card.

Here are the specifics:

Stamp sets:  Awash with Flowers and On Your Birthday

Cardstock:  Whisper White, So Saffron, Certainly Celery. Pretty in Pink scraps, and  Almost Amethyst scraps (scraps are for the butterflies)

Ink:  Black Staz-On, Pretty In Pink, So Saffron, Almost Amethyst

Accessories:  Certainly Celery marker (to outline the stems of the flowers), dazzling diamonds (can there ever be enough bling?!), scallop edge punch, Beautiful Wings embosslit.

Stampin Up, Easel Card, Awash with Flowers

Here's the recipe to make this Easel Card:

One 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" So Saffron piece of cardstock

One 4-1/4" square So Saffron piece of cardstock

One 4-1/8" square Certainly Celery piece of cardstock

One 4" square Whisper White piece of cardstock

One 4-1/4" x 2" Whisper White piece of cardstock (for sentiment)

One 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" Certainly Celery piece of cardstock (to cut with scallop edge border)

Score the 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" piece of cardstock at 4-1/4" and 6-3/8".  First fold the card in half, then fold the second score line opposite from the 4-1/4" score line.  Place the cardstock on the table with the 4-1/4" side down.  Add sticky tape to the 2-1/8" x 4-1/4" section that is facing up.  Adhere the 4-1/4" square to the card base.  This creates the easel card base.

Layer the Certainly Celery square piece of cardstock on the easel front.

Stamp the flowers from Awash with Flowers on the Whisper White square in black staz-on ink.  Stamp the "fill" portion of the flowers and leaves with Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst, and So Saffron.  Use a Certainly Celery marker to outline the stems.  Add Dazzling Diamonds to the flowers (because you always need a little bling!).

Use scraps of Pretty in Pink and Almost Amethyst with the Beautiful Wings embosslit and adhere the butterflies to the card with mini glue dots.

Stamp the sentiment on the smaller Whisper White rectangle.  Use the scallop edge punch to punch the long side of the Certainly Celery rectangle.

To make the easel card stand up by itself, add an embellishment or an extra layer (for this card, we are using the layer of Certainly Celery that is punched with the scallop edge punch) inside of your card.  This will keep the card front from closing.

Hope you enjoy this card!
